SKYHAWKS ANNOUNCE ACADEMIC AWARD WINNERS

Ten Sauk Valley Community College student-athletes were given honors as NJCAA Academic All-Americans recently.  Student-athletes must earn a GPA of 3.60 or higher during the fall and spring terms of the academic year. Two teams were also recognized by the NJCAA for their academic standing, those teams being Women’s Cross Country and Men’s Golf.

Additionally, thirty eight Skyhawk student-athletes earned Arrowhead Conference All-Conference Honors for the 2018-19 academic year.  To qualify for the distinction, the student-athlete must earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher during the fall and spring semesters.  Individuals who have been granted honors are:

Nolan Govig of the men’s Basketball team and Kylie Burkett of the women’s Tennis team were awarded the Bob Bopp Award by the Arrowhead Conference for earning the school’s highest individual GPA for the academic year.

At Sauk Valley, the Cross Country team earned the highest team GPA among the 5 women’s sports with a 3.29 GPA.  The Golf team carried the highest men’s GPA with a 3.15 GPA, also among 5 men’s sports.
